Will Venezuelan president Nicolas Maduro be able to finish his six-year term?

Venezuelan president Nicolas Maduro is struggling with an economic free-fall and increased opposition within government ranks.

“Unless Maduro takes some dramatic measures to improve the economy, it is hard to see how he can complete his term,” says Michael Shifter, president of the Inter-American Dialogue.  “The current situation is unsustainable.”

Even his main benefactor, Cuba, may drop him if convenient, argues Otto J. Reich, President, Otto Reich Associates and former US Ambassador to Venezuela and former Assistant Secretary of State for Western Hemisphere Affairs.
