Latin America: Colombia Richer Than China

Latin America's richest and poorest countries the next five years.

Colombia is richer than China in GDP per capita terms, according to a Latinvex analysis of the latest data from the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

Meanwhile, Costa Rica will become richer than Brazil in 2017, while Panama will be richer than Uruguay in 2018.

And Venezuela will gradually lose its ranking starting next year. Currently it ranks as the fifth-richest country, but next year it will fall to seventh position and by 2019 it will fall to 9th place. In 2020, it will fall further to 10th place. In other words it will go from ranking as the fifth-richest country in Latin America to the 8th-poorest.
