Latin America: Peru Leads US Trade
Peru shines on export and trade growth with the United States last year.

Peru was the star of US-Latin American trade last year, while Venezuela was the big loser, according to a Latinvex analysis of data from the US Census Bureau. Meanwhile, the 11 Latin American countries with free trade agreements with the United States – which account for more than 80 percent of the region’s US trade -- outperformed the region in terms of trade, exports and imports and as a result increased their share of trade compared with the rest of the region.
Thanks to increased trade with Mexico, total US trade with Latin America inched up last year. The growth with those countries helped offset declines with the other top US trade partners in Latin America, including Brazil and Venezuela.
