Brazilian state oil company Petrobras outperformed its peers in Mexico and Colombia last year. While Petrobras posted growth in both revenues and profits, Pemex and Ecoeptrol both posted declines, albeit with the Mexican state oil company performing significantly worse than its counterpart in Colombia.
Meanwhile, Latin America’s electricity sector was hard hit by revenue and profit declines last year. While Mexican state electricity company CFE managed to inch up revenues by 2 percent to $24.3 billion, the other top companies saw declines. That includes Spain-based Endesa, Brazil-based Eletrobras, Chile-based Enersis and US-based AES.
