FCPA: Latin America Remains Hotbed of Cases


Once again, Brazil was the country most implicated in FCPA-related bribery schemes.

Last year, Latin America accounted for nearly half of all cases related to the US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), with Brazil the top country for the second year in a row.

 

Similarly, with respect to charges against individuals, more than two-thirds of the actions involved Latin America, with conduct in Ecuador and Venezuela being the most charged, points out Ruti Smithline, Co-Chair of Investigations + White Collar Criminal Defense Group and Co-Chair of Latin America Desk at Morrison & Foerster.
