Arbitration: Colombia, Peru Cases Soar
Colombia, Peru the new “bad boys” at The World Bank’s ICSID.

Just as Peru is seeing growing investor uncertainty amidst a dramatic u-turn on the $1.3 billion Tia Maria copper project and a clash over government plans to move up elections, new Latinvex research shows that the South American country has become one of the leaders in pending cases at The World Bank’s International Center for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID).
In fact, the number of cases jumped to nine from only three a year ago, making Peru the third-highest country in ICSID cases in Latin America and the one that saw the strongest increase in ICSID case from 2018 to 2019.
