With Mexico awarding two new TV broadcast licenses last week, the sector is expected to see intense competition for advertising revenues.
Mexico’s telecom regulator IFT last week announced that Cadena Tres and Grupo Radio Centro each received licenses to broadcast free TV channels. The move is part of of government reforms aimed at making the telecom sector more competitive. They will compete with established TV broadcasters Televisa and TV Azteca.
