Latin America 2015: Positive Energy Outlook

Law firms are upbeat on outlook for Latin America energy business, thanks to Mexico and Colombia.

With Brazil suffering from a major corruption scandal at state oil producer Petrobras, energy lawyers are taking solace in the historic opening of Mexico’s energy sector to drive business this year. Meanwhile, Colombia remains an attractive market.

“The energy legal business in Latin America will continue to be robust in 2015 as the region’s energy infrastructure requirements and prospective energy resource remain,” says Carlos Solé, Co-Chair of the Latin America Practice, Baker Botts.  “Obviously, the “big story” will be Mexico as the country will conduct oil and gas bid rounds for its now reformed energy sector.”
